100 ans après la publication de l'article  révolutionnaire de Taylor sur l'écoulement des fluides entre deux cylindres rotatifs publié dans Philosophical Transactions (en 2023), la revue prépare un numéro thématique (en deux parties) qui comprend des articles de synthèse et des articles de recherche couvrant un large éventail de domaines de recherche contemporains, tous ancrés dans l'article original de Taylor. 
Pour la première partie, « Taylor-Couette and related flows on the centennial of Taylor’s seminal Philosophical Transactions paper », parue le 30 janvier, Éric Serre est éditeur aux cotés de Richard M. Lueptow, Rainer Hollerbach.

Parmi les articles scientifiques choisis pour ce volume, D. Martinand, E. Serre and B. Viaud signent : «Instabilities and routes to turbulence in rotating disc boundary layers and cavities».


"In 1923, the Philosophical Transactions published G. I. Taylor’s seminal paper on the stability of what we now call Taylor–Couette flow. In the century since the paper was published, Taylor’s ground-breaking linear stability analysis of fluid flow between two rotating cylinders has had an enormous impact on the field of fluid mechanics. The paper’s influence has extended to general rotating flows, geophysical flows and astrophysical flows, not to mention its significance in firmly establishing several foundational concepts in fluid mechanics that are now broadly accepted."
